Simkot Airport earns profit

Simkot Airport in the Himalayan district of Karnali has become able to earn a profit of Rs. 9 million during the last fiscal year 2021/22.

Mohan Giri, Head of Simkot Airport of the Civil Aviation Authority, said that the airport managed to earn Rs. 9 million in the previous financial year despite the coronavirus havoc last year.

He said that according to the Authority’s report, Rs. 5.9 million was spent out of the total income and able to earn a net profit of Rs. 3.1.

The airport collects additional fees from the aircraft’s landing, parking and flights conducting only after 12 noon.

He said that during that fiscal year, a total of 4,800 flights had been conducted by the airplanes and helicopters.

The Airport claimed that the office would earn more profit in the current financial year than the previous year. Since the beginning of July, helicopters have been flying daily and the number of tourists visiting Mansarovar Kailash has also increased, so the airport’s revenue will go up.

He said that among the four airports in the five districts of Karnali, Simkot Airport is the one that earns the most profit.
