Targeting the upcoming festivals like Dashain, Tihar and Chhath, the Kathmadu Valley Traffic Police Office has set passengers’ help desks at 14 locations in the Valley.
Passenger help desks have been established at 14 locations in the valley to assist passengers during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals, Senior Superintendent of Police and Spokesperson for the Office Rajendra Prasad Bhatta said during a press conference held yesterday.
He said that passenger help desks have been established at Nagadhunga, Kalanki, Swoyambhu, Machhapokhari, New Bus Park, Chabahil, Gaushala, Koteshwar, Jagati, Satdobato, Balkhu, Dakshinkali, Sundhara and Old Bus Park. He said that two complaints were also received and addressed from such desks.
He said that the festival target surveillance has been beefed up under the command of the Superintendent of Police.
Spokesperson Bhatta said that 1,468 traffic policemen have been deployed throughout the Dashain period.
Under the command of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), arrangements have been made to operate public and private vehicles in various places of the Valley only after mechanical testing of public vehicles.
He said that mechanical testing is being done from eight places of the Valley.
Similarly, a regular checking of the traffic policemen is happening in 35 places. The Office has said that they had also managed to check drug users from one place (Naghdhunga) at the exit point from the valley. Similarly, over-speed checking is being done at five locations and special checking at nine places targeting long-route vehicles, said spokesperson Bhatta.
He also informed that police in plain clothes have been mobilised in bus park area, Kalanki, Balkhu, Koteshwar, old bus park, Gaushala and necessary action will be taken against those who charge more fares, sell fake tickets and double tickets.
