Two rape cases of Dalit women have been reported in Debahigonahi Municipality, Rautahat in the past two weeks.
40-year-old Rakesh Raut Kurmi of the same municipality raped a 30-year-old woman while she was sleeping in her house. The victim said that the accused had raped her by threatening her with a sharp weapon on the midnight of July 15.
The accused had also threatened to kill her family members if she disclosed the incident to anybody. It is said that the accused fled from the scene after the woman shouted for help.
Police have said they are searching for the accused rapist as he is on the run. Police said the woman’s health check-up was carried out in District Hospital, Gaur.
DSP Shreeram Bhandari at Area Police Office, Garuda, said that the police team had been searching for the absconding accused rapist.
Meanwhile, 50-year-old Nageshwor Kushwaha has been arrested for raping a 27-year old Dalit woman of the same municipality on July 7.
